My love for curating events began long before I ever called myself a founder.
It began in my village in Bukoba, Tanzania, where there was always a reason to gather. A wedding, a harvest, a milestone, a homecoming, there was always something to celebrate. And what I learned early on is this: celebration is never an individual act. It takes a village. It takes community. It takes people bringing food, music, fabric, laughter, and heart.
Those immersive, joyful experiences shaped how I see the world, and how I curate events today. With Experience Tanzania Fest: Poughkeepsie, we are bringing that same spirit of communal celebration to New York and beyond. This is more than an event. It is a cultural gathering honoring Khanga heritage and International Women’s Day, filled with storytelling, music, fashion, food, and connection.
We meet as strangers, but we leave as sisters, brothers, and community. On March 14th, we gather to celebrate Tanzania, not just as a destination, but as a living culture carried through fabric, rhythm, and shared experience.
I look forward to welcoming you.
